Early on, it was important for the brand to have an identity that was grounded in typography and a mark that reflected a sense of tradition with a human touch. I collaborated with friend of the brand and talented art director and illustrator, Austin Rossborough. I asked him to explore various "trekker" concepts within a simplified variation of his signature style. After a few iterations we paired his design with a modified typeface I developed for the wordmark.

Once I started developing our digital presence, it became clear we also could use a mark that could be effective at smaller sizes, and in website navigation. I also wanted to have a simpler form which could evoke a more active energy – while still feeling connected to heritage outdoor brands, whom often use elements like mountain landscapes for example.
